  1. COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This course is designed to provide an introduction to and an overview of human resource management. Issues related to various related sub-disciplines will also be discussed. Major topic areas include: labor market conditions, the legal environment, employee recruitment and selection, training, development, compensation and benefits, and labor relations.

  1. EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES

3.1. Knowledge

  1. Understand and explain concepts, roles and functions of human resource management, the requirents for human resource professionals.
  2. Understand and explain the process and tools to analysis and design the jobs
  3. Understand and explain the process of HR planning and the key content of human resource strategy
  4. Understand and explain the recruitment model, selection methods and process of recruitment.
  5. Understand and explain the overall and each step in training process, training methods in organization
  6. Understand and explain purpose and process and methods of performance management.
  7. Understand and explain pay structure and component of compensation in organization and the different ways and plans of recognizing and rewarding employees.

3.2. Skills                                                                                   

  1. Ability to apply diferent tools and techniques in human resource management including:
  • Analyse and design the job;
  • Evaluate and critique employee recruitment strategies used by organizations;
  • Suggest effective methods of training and development for employees and address issues surrounding employee training;
  • Recommend appropriate and effective performance management
  • Develop a basic employee compensation system
  • Evaluate pay-for-performance systems and their value in motivating employees.
  1. Build and enhance problem-solving and decision-making ability in management situations in general, and in human resource management in particular.
  2. Improve human skills such as team working, communication and presentation.
  3. Build self-learning and self-study skills
